This will be very short because I just bought it yesterday and set it up last night. Samsung must have heard the complaints on the stand because connecting the stand consisted of lining up three little pins and tightening a wingnut type screw. Very simple. We’ll watch and see how it holds up, though I have no reason to think it won’t be fine. On my computer (Windows XP Pro) the screen opened up when I first turned it on and a small window opened in the middle and told me I was not set to the optimum resolution (1920 X 1200) and after about a half minute the screen went blank. I finally read the quick set up guide after doing this twice and it says you have to fix that -reset your resolution- before it goes blank the third time or it’s too late. I don’t know what happens if you don’t – does it go blank permanently and you have to return it or what? Anyway, I reset my resolution and boy is it gorgeous. For the past 3 or 4 years I’ve had a 19″ monitor that I thought was okay. When I pulled up some photos in Photoshop on this screen and filled up that HUGE screen I was blown away. It was razor sharp and the color was perfect. I am a serious photographer and bought this mostly for editing in Photoshop and doing video work. I am very very happy with the clarity and vibrance of this monitor. For the price I almost expected to be dissapointed. Not so, just the opposite. I didn’t intentionally view it from different angles, but as I recall, after reading some other reviews, When I stood up and walked in and out of the room and happened to look at it from side and high angles I did not notice any appreciable degradation. I’ll take a closer look later as I’m not at that computer as I write this. Like some previous reviewers said I had to crank down the brightness a little, which I see as a good thing, because that means you’ve got more room for adjustment to your preferences. Well, this started off to be real short, but once I got going it didn’t end that way. You should see my long ones. LOL
Addendum: I promised I would look at the screen at different angles when I got home and I have. I can see almost no degradation as I walk around the room and as I stand up and as I get down low and tilt the screen. There is a slight darkening at some near extreme angles. I can’t imagine the kind of angle a person would be operating at to find any real problems with viewing this. In other words: “No problem man”.
Like others have said, installation of the stand is a joke. The instructions consists of a drawing showing the two stand pieces fitting together and then snapping into the monitor base. What they don’t show is a 250 lb man struggling and putting all his weight on the stand to snap it in. The Samsung engineering dept really blew it! With that said, once I got on line and searched out some tips, I was able to get it together. Basically, you’ll need to lubricate both the stand and the rubber gasket on the monitor. Armor All, or some other PLASTIC SAFE (not Vaseline) lubricant will work. You need to put the monitor topside down on the carpeting and use your feet and knees or another set of hands to support it. Then tilt the stand a bit forward and use your weight to exert pressure (lots of it) while rotating it back up. I had to try it a few times, each time adding more weight. I was afraid I was going to crack the monitor, or lose grip of it and fall on the darn thing.
Once the stand is together, the monitor install is a breeze. The manual says the DVI cable is optional, but my package came with both VGA and DVI. I haven’t calibrated yet, or even installed the Samsung software, but right out of the box, as a plug and play monitor, the colors are beautiful, and more importantly true. I did a test print on my Epson 7600 from Photoshop and the print was dead on.
It’s a TFT monitor, so viewing suffers from low and high angles. Side angles look pretty decent. If you’re using the monitor as a workstation monitor, don’t get hung up on viewing angles. You’ll end up spending an extra $300 for what? So you can sit on the floor and look up at your monitor? If you want to use it as a gaming monitor where you’ll be sitting below it in a gaming chair, well that’s a different story.
I purchased this monitor for my father’s Photo-shop workstation. I personally have a Samsung 245T that I paid $600 for. It has a portrait rotating stand, and all sorts of different input options, and great viewing angles, BUT straight on viewing is no better than the 2433BW. Good luck.

Since my cheap Hann LCD 19″ died in 9 mos. I decided to buy a quality widescreen LCD. After looking around and knowing Samsung produces some of the best HDTV LCD TVs I bought this model and so far it’s been a great choice. Bright, vibrant colors and sharp detail in both images and test.
Highly recommended.
thats worth 1k
well, im still without monitor speakers but hopefully back on to finish the album off next week. Sampled all the drums for the live set now

Have you tried samsung.com??
“The standard Intel drivers are limited to resolutions reported by the machines’ VBIOS. The Thinkpads are very restrictive when it comes to supported resolutions wider than 4:3.
However, Intel also supplies a driver kit for embedded applications Windows XP or Linux, the IEGD:
… 0&lang=eng
(make sure you get the whole link. or google “intel iegd driver”)
Installing these on my X40 gave me several (wide) resolutions that the standard drivers did not support, for example 1280×720 and 1280×768.”
I can read the specs by myself thank you very much. I don’t need any girly girl to read them for me.

You may have to update your "display" driver if the problem continues. This may or may not be a "bad" connection problem. There's something else you can try. You won't be able to see what's happening on the screen because it's all blacked out, but there is something going on, you just gotta believe! Press the Windows Key + R. This brings up the Run Command. You can't see it, but it's there. Type cmd. This opens the command prompt. Now hit Alt + Enter. This puts the screen into "text only" mode. This will reset your screen so you can see it. Now type "Exit" to leave the command prompt, and you should be back to normal. If this doesn't work the first time, run through it 2 or 3 times before you give up and call the "Geek Squad". Good luck!
how much did you pay for this??

This was a catch 22 for me. Obviously to see my baby, and check they are OK was a good one. But I decided wireless technology is still in its infant days. Who knows in the future, whether exposing a baby to radiation is good for them. That's why I went with a wired monitor. So any wired monitor is the one I would choose, but that's the problem, most are wireless. Babies are especially vulnerable because their bodies and nervous systems are still developing and because they will have more time to accumulate exposure to the radiation and for any delayed effects to develop. The jury is out, but I don't personally want to be a guineepig.
I looked at
But in the end went with just a simple wired sound monitor. You can put them closer, due to a much smaller magnetic field and hear the baby breathing . It maybe that magnetic fields dont harm the baby, but there have been some concerns in some of the trustworthy papers here in UK such as the independant.

If you have a $1000-2000 budget why would you go with AMD? AMD is cheap but it lacks the performance compared to Intel, get a computer powered with the Core i7 which is blowing the doors off anything that isn't an upper tier Opteron or Xeon.
But if you insist going with AMD at least get a Phenom over that X2 stuff, your CPU is lagging behind the rest of your build. Pick up a AMD Phenom 9950 2.6Ghz

And it’s also a pain in the ass to have multiple sign-in logs on the desk, which is small and already too cluttered for my taste–it’s work space!
